What We Believe
At Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church, we joyfully affirm these core doctrines of the Christian faith. Each belief is rooted in Scripture and shapes how we worship, serve, and live together as a church family.
The Scriptures and the True God
We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible Word and our only rule of faith and practice (2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:21). We believe in one living and true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in power and glory, the Creator and Ruler of all things (Exod. 20:2–3; Matt. 28:19).
Humanity, Sin, and Christ’s Atonement
We believe mankind was created holy and in God’s image, yet fell into sin through disobedience and is now by nature sinful and in need of salvation (Gen. 1:26–27; Gen. 3:6–24; Rom. 5:12). We believe Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice on the cross, bearing our sins and securing redemption for all who believe (Isa. 53:4–6; John 3:16; Heb. 7:25).
Salvation by Grace through Faith
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by our works or merit (Eph. 2:8–9; Titus 3:5). In justification, God pardons our sins and declares us righteous on the basis of Christ’s finished work, granting us eternal life (Rom. 3:24; Rom. 5:1).
Repentance, New Birth, and Perseverance
We believe the Gospel calls all people to repent of sin and trust in Christ (Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21). In the new birth, the Holy Spirit gives a new heart and new life, enabling believers to grow in holiness and persevere in faith to the end (John 3:3–7; 2 Cor. 5:17; Phil. 1:6).
The Church, Ordinances, and the Lord’s Day
We believe a New Testament church is a local body of baptized believers, joined together in covenant to worship, serve, and carry out Christ’s mission (Acts 2:41–42; Eph. 4:11–16). We observe believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper as ordinances given by Christ (Matt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 11:23–26), and we honor the Lord’s Day as a special time for worship and rest (Acts 20:7; Rev. 1:10).
Christian Living, Government, and Eternity
We believe Christians are called to live in holiness, love, and obedience, seeking to glorify God in every area of life (Rom. 12:1–2; Gal. 5:22–23). We affirm that civil government is ordained by God for order and justice, and we are to pray for and honor those in authority (Rom. 13:1–7; 1 Tim. 2:1–2). We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, eternal joy with Christ for the redeemed, and everlasting punishment for the unrepentant (John 5:28–29; Matt. 25:31–46; Rev. 20:11–15).
